Meet The Team
Daniel Stein - President
Daniel has been involved in the fitness industry for over ten years and has owned his own private training business since 2013. His passion for health and fitness led him to get certified through NASM, NFPT, and ACSM. He also holds a specialty certification as a Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer (CIFT) and as a Certified Autism Trainer, which allows him to train individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. In 2013, Daniel married his beautiful wife, Trinity. A few years later, they prayerfully started Special Strong to pursue their calling of working with the special needs population. They both attend Gateway Church in Frisco and serve in ministry together. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, reading, and fishing.
Tom Hise – Treasurer
Thomas Hise earned a Bachelor of Business Arts in Accounting from the University of Texas in Arlington. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Thomas has worked in the Aerospace and Defense industry for twenty-nine years. Throughout his life, he has volunteered for multiple non-profit organizations combining his skills with his passion for helping others. Thomas is the father of two children, one of whom has autism. Raising a child with special needs has shown him personally the financial difficulties, and the sacrifices families have to make to provide needed services for their children. It is this experience that makes him passionate about the mission of Mighty Shepherd.
Jennifer Hise – Board Secretary
Jennifer Hise earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Lubbock Christian University. She is a certified Elementary Education Grades 1-6, Special Education EC-12, and English as a Second Language teacher. Jennifer taught in public schools for thirteen years and private school for one and a half years. In Grand Prairie, she taught general education in 7th and 5th grades. In McKinney, Jennifer taught 1st grade in the private school. Then in McKinney public schools, she taught in Special Education at the elementary level and lastly, worked as a Special Education instruction facilitator. Currently, she is working in the home, managing the household. Jennifer is the mother of two children, one of whom has autism. Raising a child with special needs has shown her how hard it is to find needed services. This experience has given her the desire to help others find and receive the services they may need.
Melanie Amundson – Board Co-Secretary
Melanie Amundson earned her degree in accounting from Stephen F Austin. She worked in public accounting for Price Waterhouse Cooper after college and then in the banking industry as an accountant. Melanie was also the head financial controller for University Baptist Church in Houston. She has served on the board of the Spina Bifida Association of the Texas Gulf Coast as treasurer. Melanie also served as a member of the Counting Committees of University Baptist Church Houston, Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church Allen, and Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco. She has been in leadership for Bible Study Fellowship for the past ten years.
Jonathan McGehee – Board Member
Jonathan McGehee earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literary Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a certified English Language Arts 8-12 and English as a Second Language teacher. Jonathan is currently finishing the clinical portion of his Masters of Science degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. He is expected to become a Licensed Professional Counselor – Intern in March 2019. Jonathan has worked in Dallas Independent School District and for Sylvan Learning Centers. He currently works at Acorn to Oak for Dr. Terrie Naramor a Neuropsychologist. At Acorn to Oak Jonathan helps to diagnose several issues including learning differences, Autism, ADHD, and more. He also helps provide skills training and coaching for those in need and their families. Working in the Family Clinic at SMU has provided him with the opportunity to work with children and adults who are on the Autism Spectrum. Jonathan believes that the special needs population is both underrepresented and underserved. He is excited to be a part of Mighty Shepherd to help provide much-needed services for this unique population.
Jill Hickman-Trammell – Board Member
Jill Hickman-Trammell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Psychology in 1985 from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. In 1993, she graduated from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte with a nursing degree. Jill has been in the healthcare field for over 25 years. In 2002 she started a Home Healthcare company certified by Medicare which provided nursing and therapy services to the senior population. Her company grew to over 120 employees and in 2010 was awarded the Dallas Top 100 fastest growing businesses by SMU Cox School of Business. Jill has lived in McKinney for 25 years and has four grown children. She and her husband enjoy traveling, gardening and playing golf in their free time. However, their favorite activity is being with their grandchildren and their Maltese Bentley. Even though Jill has primarily served the senior population over the years, she is excited and passionate to learn more about children and adults with special needs and how she can best help in providing services and assistance for this underrepresented population through Mighty Shepherd
